With deep sadness, we remember Imam Muhsin Hendricks, who was brutally murdered in an armed attack on Saturday, February 15, 2025. As the world’s first openly gay imam and the founder of the Al-Ghurbaah Mosque in Cape Town, he tirelessly fought for the acceptance and rights of LGBTQIA+ individuals within the Muslim community.
Our collaboration with Imam Hendricks was a privilege; his wisdom, courage, and unwavering dedication to inclusivity and compassion deeply inspired us. His death is a great loss, but his legacy will live on as a beacon of hope, love, and justice.
